Iowa hunting takes place in units #4 & #5 which are in the eastern ½ of the state. Hunts are semi or fully guided stand/blind type hunts. Minimum class deer to be harvested is 140 gross (SCI); $500 fine may be levied for deer shot that score under 140. Lodging is included for all hunts and meals are included for fully guided hunts.
- Two preference points are currently required in Iowa to draw an archery buck tag.
- Archery hunts are 5 days while Shotgun/Muzzleloader deer hunts will be for 4 days. All hunts will be stand hunts using Summit Tree Stands. Muzzleloaders can be used during shot gun hunting.
- Key to successful hunt this time of year is the weather, the colder the better. Most hunts are by or near food plots, corn fields, or bean fields.
