New Mexico Hunting

Ever wanted to hunt really big bull elk, but didn’t feel like waiting countless years to draw that all too elusive tag for a prime hunting unit. If so, your wait is over.  Looking for a mountain lion/cougar or early season bear hunt? hook-n-hunt is here to help. Your hunt is situated on over 25,000 acres of prime private ranch hunting land in New Mexico GMU 15 with additional access to 1.3 million acres of the Gila National Forest. With the assistance of the New Mexico Game and Fish Dept., the Outfitter sets their own hunting dates from September to December which results in less pressure on the elk and thus a higher success opportunity for you the hunter. As a primitive weapons unit only, bring your muzzleloader or your bow, in either case you won’t be disappointed with what you see. Scopes and sabots are allowed for use with your modern inline muzzleloader. All of our ranches have planted rye fields and water tanks to keep trophy bulls plentiful and in the area.

cat1In addition to primitive weapon elk hunting you can hunt black bear with dogs (last two weeks of August if quota isn't filled). Bears come in all color phase colors in New Mexico. You can add bear on to your elk hunt for only the cost of the license and a trophy fee. New Mexico is the only state where you can hunt the big cat year around. During the winter (December-February) the Outfitter will hunt cats in Colorado as the weather is more conducive to tracking them at that time of year. The rest of the year cat hunts are in New Mexico.  Both hunts come with all the included amenities as the elk hunt. Cats are hunted with dogs.

Elk tags are landowner guaranteed through and issued by the state. We will send you the tag form in August. You complete and submit the along with a check to the State of New Mexico. They will send the tag to you directly via mail. This is NOT a draw.

All archery hunters should be comfortable at shots up to 50 yards.
